Getting married is one of the biggest events in anyone's life. For some, it is more of a legal matter that does not require much fanfare. However, for most, this is a big event that is to be celebrated. For this reason, it takes a good deal of time and energy to plan the big day. This leads many people to seek out tips on planning a wedding.
There are two phases of the event that should be planned. First is the ceremony. Next is the reception. Not everyone chooses to have both phases held in the same location. Even when they do, the odds are that the reception will be held in a different room inside the building.
Because these are separate locations, one must plan the wedding decorations for each space individually. The venue for the ceremony will include the aisle, flowers, and seating for each guest invited. Whenever possible, it is best to have invitees RSVP so that one can plan for a specific number. Easy decorating ideas include chinese lanterns and string lights. These are also a great idea for party decorations and special events.
The reception hall will normally be more open, having a dance floor for the guests to enjoy themselves on after the ceremony. It is also customary to have tables and chairs for the guests so that they can sit down and eat a meal in celebration of the happy couple.
One will normally need to hire a caterer to provide the food and drink. Of course, the wedding cake is a big part of the reception and must be ordered well in advance. The couple will usually choose the size and design for the cake together.
The couple will need to choose their bridal party and groomsmen. These worthies will need to be notified well in advance so that they may purchase dresses and/or rent tuxedos to wear on the big day. It will need to be decided who will pay for these special clothes since the odds are they will only be worn once.
Of course, all the planning in the world is useless if there is not an official on hand to perform the ceremony. Most couples choose to have a member of the clergy officiate. There are some, however, who would rather be wed by a public official such as a Justice of the Peace, or a ship's captain.
